We have had a busy few weeks as the commercial flock have also been lambing. "Hawthorns Gillean" gave birth to a beautiful ewe lamb "Hawthorns Poppy", she is by "Bryn Caffo Lordyn". She is a very strong, stocky lamb with loads of potential. "Glynbryn Cerys" has also lambed and much to my delight has produced a big, single ram lamb, "Hawthorns Phineas". She was the only ewe in lamb to "Ruslin Zebedee" this year and as Zeb is in now in retirement Phineas will most probably be Zeb's last lamb. "Ruslin Zebedee" has been the foundation of our flock post Foot & Mouth and I am so pleased we have a really good ram lamb this year to carry on his line. We have many of his daughters in our flock but never kept a male so I have been extremely lucky. "Glenbryn Nerys" has also lambed, two ewe lambs by "Hawthorns Hayden", "Hawthorns Isla" and "Hawthorns Buffy" have both had a set of twin ram lambs, by Lordyn and Hayden respectively. My two ewes in lamb by AI are due in about 10 days which I am excited about as this was our first try at AI and has proved very successful.
Lovely set of twins born this morning, persil white with pale grey ears, perfect!
Out of Hawthorns Jasmine, by Hawthorns Hayden. 1 tup and 1 gimmer. Both doing well. The single ewe lamb born last week has been outside for the first time today to enjoy the sunlight. No more lambs yet, which is probably a good thing as the weather has been awful, gale force winds and torrential rain, the poor lambs would be born with snorkels and flippers. Much better to stay where they are.
